Look at the other players up cards - You can gain a lot of extra information in razz by taking a look at your opponents up. The other players up cards will give you added information to use when figuring out you hand strength relative to the other players hands at the table. This information will help you decide the best way to play each hand.

In razz dead cards are helpful - Unlike stud, in razz it's good to see that other players have an up card that matches one of the cards you have. This is because if you get the same card again it doesn't improve your hand. As an example, when you have a 2 and there's three other 2's showing as other players hole cards, you know you can't hit another 2 and this is beneficial to your hand.

Steal antes from good positions - In razz, stealing antes is a very smart move in certain situations. The perfect time to steal is when you're on the right side of the ‘bring in' player and everyone else has folded to you. The ‘bring in' player has the highest up card at the table so betting here is a smart move because they will usually fold. Also, if you've got the lowest up card at the table it's a smart time to steal because the other players will give you credit for a big hand.

Fold when you're beat - Even though the bets are usually relatively small in comparison to the pot you still don't want to lose these chips. You should try not to play mediocre hands when you're behind. Don't play a lot of mediocre hands pre-flop hoping to get lucky, as this is a sure fire way to lose money. In Razz Poker players usually wager according to their hand, so if you are getting bet at every round more often than not your mediocre hand is not good.

Rarely slow play - Slow playing is hardly ever the right play in razz poker. The wagers are often too small for an opponent a decent hand to fold when you bet. You want to build up the pot and not give free cards to other players. The only time it would be smart to slow play is when you have the wheel and you think your opponent will only put money into the pot with a bluff.
